On 23 July, Animative Group successfully hosted a live Olympics watch event to celebrate the 2020 Tokyo Olympics opening ceremonies. This fun networking event for some 25 colleagues, clients, and industry professionals, marked our first in-person live event since October 2020.
Said CEO, Károly Molnár, “It’s absolutely fantastic. Great to see people, great to engage… do what we all used to do regularly.”
Held at the Animative Smart Home Showroom (The Showroom), this is the perfect place to watch the somewhat subdued, but always incredible, Olympics Opening Ceremonies. The Showroom is our own space and can easily host up to 50 people for private parties, business meetings (with full video conferencing) or any type of networking event. Our Control4 Certified Showroom combines the high tech power of SnapOne into our traditional wine cellar venue. Additionally, it’s conveniently located in the heart of District V.
Thanks to our use of Binary Media over IP (MoIP), the 4K HDR Olympic content was easily distributed to the multiple video sources throughout the showroom space. This is the most modern way to do video distribution – in your home, office, or your own live event space. Furthermore, it ensures that all guests have a great view of the event – and don’t need to huddle around one large screen too close together.
Moreover, Balázs, a certified Control4 programmer, took some time to do a brief demo of how this clever system works.
The Olympics Opening Ceremonies
Nowhere near as bombastic as ceremonies from London or Beijing, the Tokyo opener will be less remembered for its spectacle and more for the pandemic environment in which it aired.
Our favourite part was near the end when 1,800 computer-controlled lighted drones rose above the stadium to create a model of the planet Earth. Naturally, there were fireworks — but a reasonable amount.
“Our networking event went well and we have had a lot of positive feedback,” said Chief Marketing Officer, Anikó Woods. “We haven’t done something like this in 9 months. We talked about the importance of supporting each other in the local business community and also what to do if the city were to shut down again due to COVID.”
Our casual Friday afternoon Live Olympics Watch Event featured our own custom crafted cocktail called the, “SOK SIKERT!”. Many thanks to Dez O’Connell and Trispirit Japanese Apricot Pálinka for this delicious Hungarian-Japanese treat!
“I’m a people person and I love connectivity,” said guest, Paul. “There is a certain kind of connection you get from meeting someone in person that you can’t get by connecting with someone on Zoom. If you’re trying to connect on Zoom it’s usually because it’s a longstanding relationship or you have a very similar reason to be working together. In person you can really get to know someone a little better.”
People at the Live Olympics Watch Event included clients, architects, designers, technology professionals, and members of the local business chambers.
Although we have certainly made use of virtual means of connecting over the past year, we know we are not alone in missing face-to-face networking . We can’t wait to host – and attend – more of these types events in 2021.
Thanks for coming and see you at our next event in September!
